Here at TaxAssist Accountants we pride ourselves in being at the forefront of marketing materials and social media and the potential they have to inform and enhance relationships between franchisees and their clients.

During the 2015 Budget, we were proud to deliver to franchisees a whole range of marketing material for them to share.

Chancellor of the Exchequer delivered Budget 2015 on 18th March 2015. With the general election looming in May, Osborne could have used the announcement as a chance to seduce the electorate. But it was very much business as usual, with Osborne sticking to his long-term plans of modest spending and no-unfunded giveaways.

We understand that clients want to know how the Budget and Autumn Statement affects their business and personal circumstances. It’s also a great opportunity for franchisees to touch base with prospective clients that they haven’t spoken to for a while.

By producing the majority of our content in-house, we are able to gain an advantage over our competitors because our material is tailored to our client base, and we deliver everything franchisees need on the day. Most accountancy firms get their Budget commentary out the day after the announcement; so we strive to do it on the same day so that we hit franchisees' inboxes first.

This is what we achieved this year:

  • During the Budget, Jo Nockels FCCA, our Training & Communications manager, posted live updates to the @TaxAssistUK Twitter account. We believe social media is an important part of our marketing strategy, so we encourage franchisees to retweet us.

  • By 3pm, our press release had been signed-off and our team set to work to sell in our story on a local level.

  • Later that day, we published a summary and three news stories:

    - Budget summary
    - Savings tax to be abolished in today's Budget 2015
    - Mobile businesses to benefit from fuel duty freeze
    - Chancellor abolishes Class 2 National Insurance Contributions

  • There were also personalised versions of all of these available on franchisees’ own websites, which they could share on their social media profiles.

  • By 7:30pm, a personalised Budget 2015 email newsletter was emailed directly to each franchisee to share with their clients and contacts. Just an hour later, they were able to personalise a detailed PDF Budget summary to print and post to clients, or email as an attachment. And there was also a template covering letter/ email text to accompany the PDF.

  • The next day, we uploaded a branded PowerPoint presentation for our franchisees to use at Budget breakfasts and networking events.
