The winners of the Ilkley Business Awards were announced at a gala dinner on 15th March at the Kings Hall and Winter Gardens in Ilkley, which was attended by the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Bradford, as well as local dignitaries and businesses.

The judges’ criteria was to award the accolade to an individual who makes a positive impact on the local business community, who demonstrates strong leadership skills, creating a culture that excites, motivates and engages staff at all levels and that encourages innovation and ambition.

Secretly nominated by a member of her staff, the judges chose Julia as a winner for her “leadership and contribution to the Ilkley business community and her support of apprenticeships”.

“It was such a wonderful evening, which was made even more special knowing that I had been nominated by a member of staff,” said Julia who along with husband Dave manages a team of ten.

“Knowing that our staff are happy and motived is key. With three busy practices, Dave and myself have to rely on our team members, so we have ensured that they are well trained and supported at all times.”

Georgina Stevenson, the staff member who wrote the secret nomination was also delighted. “I’m so glad I entered Julia for this award. Well done Julia, you're an inspiration to us all!”

Julia and Dave joined TaxAssist Accountants, the UK’s largest network of small business specialist accountants in 2009. A decade later, they have built their practice up to over 950 clients across the Yorkshire towns of Ilkley, Keighley and Bingley.
