Having qualified as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant through a Big Four audit training contract, Jaz gained valuable experience working with large organisations before pursuing his ambition to build his own business.
Joining TaxAssist Accountants at the age of 25, Jaz has grown his Leicester-based practice from a standing start to 515 clients in just four years, building a team of nine along the way. His success reflects both his entrepreneurial drive and his commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
The Great British Franchisee Awards, organised by Which Franchise, recognise outstanding franchisees who demonstrate excellence in their businesses and make a positive contribution to their communities and franchise networks.
With more than 100 five-star Google reviews, Jaz has established a strong reputation for client service while ensuring his growing team is supported through training, development opportunities and clear progression pathways. Remarkably, he has retained every member of his team to date.
Beyond his practice, Jaz plays an active role in the local community through charitable support and participation in and judging local business awards and events. He also shares his experience with fellow TaxAssist franchisees, supporting others across the network.
Jaz said: “Winning this award is a fantastic honour, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built over the past four years. Starting from scratch was a big challenge, but having the right support around me has helped me develop the business with confidence and build a team that shares my commitment to looking after our clients.
“For me, success isn’t just about growing the business; it’s about building lasting relationships, creating opportunities for my team and making a positive contribution to the local community. I’m grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey so far, including my team, our clients and the wider TaxAssist network.”
The judges commented: “Jaz is an outstanding example of what can be achieved through ambition, hard work and a real commitment to doing things the right way. To build a business from a standing start to more than 500 clients and a team of nine in just four years is an exceptional achievement, but what particularly impressed our judges was the quality behind that growth.
“Jaz has created a business where clients clearly value the service they receive, team members are supported to develop and progress, and strong relationships have been built within both the local community and the wider franchise network. His willingness to share his experience and support fellow franchisees is also a great reflection of the spirit these awards seek to recognise.”
James Mattam, Group Director of Franchising at TaxAssist Accountants, presented Jaz with his winner’s certificate at the network’s recent regional meetings.
James said: “Jaz thoroughly deserves this recognition. He combines a strong entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine commitment to his clients, his team and the people around him.
“His success reflects not only his own drive and determination, but also the value of being part of a network where franchisees can learn from and support one another. We’re delighted to see his achievements recognised with this award.”
Jaz’s achievement highlights the role that ambition, client focus and investment in people can play in building a successful accountancy practice. His award is also a reflection of the collaborative culture within TaxAssist Accountants, where franchisees benefit from an established business model, ongoing support and the opportunity to share knowledge and experience with others across the network.
