With generative AI rapidly transforming the professional services landscape, the TaxAssist Accountants Support Centre has taken a proactive and measured approach to adoption - providing structured guidance, clear policies and practical advice to help franchisees navigate both the opportunities and the risks.

Richard Washington, Director of Group Technology at TaxAssist Accountants, said: “The use of Generative AI presents opportunities but also risks. It is important we embrace change and take advantage of this rapidly evolving technology to create efficiency and deliver value to clients. However, understanding where tools can legitimately be used while minimising the risks is crucial for our franchisees, who need to confidently explain their approach to staff, clients, insurers and regulatory bodies.

“To provide clarity and structure, the Support Centre has issued formal guidance on AI usage and supplied an Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace policy template for franchisees to tailor within their own practices.”

AI was a key topic at the TaxAssist Accountants National Conference in May 2025, where franchisees received practical advice on appropriate use,and associated risks from keynote speaker Billie McLoughlin. Guidance has since been shared, outlining clear parameters around what can and cannot be used within practice environments;helping to protect client data privacy and ensure compliance with existing security policies before integrating any AI application.

“Ultimately, practitioners remain responsible for the advice and communications they provide,” added Richard. “AI can support efficiency, but it does not replace professional judgement.

“By combining technology investment with clear governance and practical support, TaxAssist Accountants is ensuring its network can harness the benefits of AI responsibly, securely and with confidence.”

As AI continues to evolve, the TaxAssist Accountants Support Centre remains committed to providing clear direction and practical tools to help franchisees adopt innovation safely and responsibly.
